Is Dall.E Mini or Craiyon depending on Google Image Search to Draw?

Dall.E as it's famously known, has a waitlist of over a 1 million - I signed up today. I have been using Craiyon, previously known as Dall.E Mini, for some time now and have stumbled into an interesting finding. The images that Craiyon creates are very similar to a Google Image search for the same text. Both give me multiple options, but I am just taken aback by the fact that the AI is giving me an option that I can also see in Google.

Don't trust me? Here are the results:

First is a search for High Technology Marketing.

Second is a longer phrase, the value of search engine optimization.

Is this by design  in the sense that the AI is just following the bias of what it finds on the internet? I found this on their website:

Bias

CONTENT WARNING: Readers should be aware this section contains content that is disturbing, offensive, and can propagate historical and current stereotypes.

The model was trained on unfiltered data from the Internet, limited to pictures with English descriptions. Text and images from communities and cultures using other languages were not utilized. This affects all output of the model, with white and Western culture asserted as a default, and the model’s ability to generate content using non-English prompts is observably lower quality than prompts in English.

While the capabilities of image generation models are impressive, they may also reinforce or exacerbate societal biases. The extent and nature of the biases of DALL·E Mini and DALL·E Mega models have yet to be fully documented, but initial testing demonstrates that they may generate images that contain negative stereotypes against minoritized groups. Work to analyze the nature and extent of the models’ biases and limitations is ongoing.

This is rather disappointing. I was kind of hoping that the AI would actually draw stuff without looking, but this is more like looking, copying and fudging.

But, they also say this:

Do you have any tips to create better images?

It's always a good idea to be specific. Here are a few keywords that can be interesting to experiment with: "illustration", "photorealistic", "high definition"… We've seen so many cool tricks from the community so you should definitely check what others do for inspiration!

I guess I will be trying out more variations to see what it returns.
